Repair a Crack or Chipped Windshield

Every driver knows the inconvenience that follows when a loose rock flies up and hits his or her windshield while driving. Not to mention the chips, cracks and damages that follow. There is no way to fully avoid this unpredictable nuisance, but there are ways to lessen the damages of the incident by properly repairing the chip or crack to prevent future windshield replacement. I’ve included some tips on what to do in certain windshield chip and crack situations.

Rock Chips

Quick repair of windshield rock chips can help prevent a more costly windshield replacement later. Rock chips up to around the size of a U.S. quarter can be repaired by filling the chipped area with epoxy and allowing it to harden. Although the chip will usually be visible, the windshield will experience no further damage. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of this repair.

Small Cracks

Smaller windshield cracks, up to 2 or 3 inches in length, can often be repaired. Repairing a small crack will prevent it from growing in length and requiring a complete windshield replacement. For cracks smaller than an inch or two, kits that will allow you to repair the crack yourself are available. Larger cracks will require a visit to an auto glass specialist or mechanic.

Large Cracks

Large cracks or cracks that have spidered will require the complete replacement of the windshield. Large cracks can affect the structural integrity of the windshield, especially if they are large spidered areas that have been caused by a large object, such as a rock.

Headlight Restoration

Buy it HERE

Fogged headlight lenses not only make your car look tired but also restrict the amount of light illuminating the road ahead of you. Headlight restoration kits are cheap and can produce dramatic results. I recommend the Sylvania's Headlight Restoration Kit, selling for just over $20. There are a dozen other kits available at different prices, including some that include a buffing wheel to eliminate the manual labor.

Step 1: Preparation
Wash lenses, mask painted surface (tape included in kit). Next, spray on the Surface Activator--a proprietary surface corrosion softener only from Sylvania. Immediately, you’ll see the yellow gunk start to break down.
Step 2: Sand/Polish
Remove corrosion with a wet-sanding process using the provided 3 grades of premium waterproof sanding papers (400, 1000, 2000 grit). You’ll notice the lens to take on a cloudy, smooth finish. Apply the oil-free Clarifying Compound. Already, this step will help you feel confident in the kit’s ability. You’ll be amazed at how clear the lenses will be.
Step 3: Clarify/Seal
You’ll then apply the UV Block Clear Coat. It’s simple. Just apply as instructed in smooth, even applications. This UV Block Clear coat is a specially formulated polymer coating with active and passive UV blockers. This is the component that gives you long-lasting results.

Nissan Launches "WHAT IF_" Global Campaign

“What if the world’s fastest man went even faster?” That’s the question Nissan poses in the newest series of its brand campaign, “WHAT IF_”, which launched on June 1, 2012. For the campaign Nissan has partnered with Usain Bolt, Olympic and world record holder and world's fastest man, to launch a new global brand campaign.
The Advertisement:
On the left, multi-world-record-holder Usain Bolt, 25-year-old Jamaican who ran 100 meters in the time it takes many of us to take two breaths, 9.58 seconds.
On the right, a red hot Nissan GT-R reveals its own best time of zero-to-100 kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds.
The campaign, which highlights the Olympian who is in training for the Games in London this July, is intended to energize consumers as the excitement rises while the Olympic games approach.
“Drive a car like the GT-R and it gives you the chills,” says Bolt.
The multi-year “WHAT IF_” campaign, soon to reach international airports in all major cities, is intended to boost Nissan’s brand power, a key pillar of the company’s mid-term plan through 2016.

Wouldn't It Be Cool?

Think all midsize sedans have the same, dull design? Well Nissan's 2013 Altima stands apart from the crowd, and it's newest promotional commercial proves just that. The commercial begins with the narrator stating "wouldn't it be cool if someone took midsize sedans and broke the mold?" Well, yes. That's why the bestselling Altima keeps the same DNA but Nissan has re-imagined everything in it, giving it greater horse power and a lighter-stronger body, advanced headlight technologies, and zero gravity seats. Introducing the completely re-imgained Nissan Altima:

We want to hear from you-- How cool is the new Altima?

Nissan Takes Part in the Le Mans Race

The Nissan DeltaWing and LMP2 teams make last minute checks and preparations on Saturday, just hours before the 80th annual 24-hour Le Mans endurance race is to begin.

The Nissan's two powered Zytek prototypes achieved fifth and eighth places in the highly competitive class at the French Endurance Classic, and it was a family affair in more ways than one with the father and son duo of MArtin and Alec Brundle.

“Le Mans was a great experience and a massive event. I am really pleased to have finished the race and really happy to have finished in the top ten in class, I would like to come back next year," said Alex Brundle.

It's All About the Journey, Make it Affordable!

It's been said,
"it's about the journey, not the destination"

Some of the best vacation memories are the laughs, the conversations and car concerts we endure on those good old fashion family road trips. Before you pack up your Nissan in preparation for a journey across American, I recommend you visit GasBuddy.com where you'll find the amazingly useful tool that is the Trip Cost Calculator, so clever. There you can input your destination and vehicle year, make and model to receive accurate mpg information. In addition, it will provide you with an entire trip summary, including total gas cost, distance, gallons needed, carbon footprint and suggested gas stations to fill up at. Since, it's all about the journey, plan to make yours an affordable one!

Windshield Wiper Innovations

Windshield Wipers: Often a feature that is not thought about until it is needed, but windshield wiper function matters to drivers, especially when we experience those sporadical west Texas summer showers.
“So even in cars with automatic headlights, if it’s raining during the daytime the headlights don’t necessarily come on.  In this case, however, after four passes of the wipers the headlights automatically come on.  It’s a very safe, very convenient feature for the customer,” said Vishnu Jayamohan with Nissan Product Planning and Advanced Strategy.
Nearly 30 states require drivers’ car headlights be turned on in rain or heavy fog, and that’s part of the motivation behind the new 2013 Nissan Altima’s enhanced headlight feature.  Automatic headlights respond to light conditions outside.  If your wipers are on, so are the headlights. They automatically turn on after four wiper cycles.
Another new windshield wiper feature is called “auto-park wipers.”  When a driver shuts off their car while the wipers are in still motion, the wipers now complete a full cycle first.  The wipers will always rest on the bottom of the windshield, keeping them from freezing in place in the middle.
These two innovative windshield wiper features come on most 2013 Nissan Altimas. Visit Orr Nissan of Greenville to test drive an Altima today!

Is A Factory GPS System Worth the Investment?

With all the technological advances in our world today, it only seems fit that Nissan drivers continue to have more affordable and beneficial additive options. The days of the World Almanac Maps fade away, as we've become a generation of GPS and Portable Navigation Device (PND). So when equipping your new Nissan, is it better to have a factory GPS system built into the vehicle’s center dash or wait to purchase an after market standalone PND system?
2012 Nissan Murano
From personal experience, here are the reasons I recommend investing in Nissan's factory GPS:
1. Appearance. When you have a built in navigation system, it simply looks better. The sleek and polished appearance of a built in navigation system creates a high-tech and integrated appearance for your vehicle. In addition, they have larger screens and are designed to work specifically with the vehicle. But, if you purchase an aftermarket navigation system it will most likely attach to the windshield and the wire plug will be visible because it will have to attach to the power adapter (cigarette lighter).
2. Warranty. Because the factory navigation system is part of your Nissan, it is covered by the bumper-to-bumper warranty. If anything goes wrong with the system, you can schedule a service appointed at Orr Nissan of Greenville and have it repaired that day, as opposed to shipping off an aftermarket system back to the manufacturer and waiting for them to fix it or replace it.
3. Theft. To prevent theft with an after market PND, you will have to take your system off the dash, unplug it, and store it away every time you go somewhere. With a built in navigation system it's more difficult to remove the system it without damaging it, so thieves rarely bother to even try and steal it while a portable device is easily snatched because it's only attached to the windshield with a suction cup. In addition, most insurance policies will cover the replacement of built in systems while portable devices are not covered.
4. Resale Value. A factory navigation systems substantially improves a vehicles resale value. According to Edmunds.com, used-car analysts say that visible options on used cars, like navigation systems, tend to hold their value in the used-car market and make a car more desirable to potential buyers.
It all comes down to personal preference. If you're still on the fence about investing in a factory GPS system then I suggest you take a new Nissan vehicle for a test drive and weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.

Nissan's commitment to the planet doesn't begin and end with efficient cars. The company saw an opportunity to extend its environmentally conscious philosophy into the transport and delivery aspect of the business.
Nissan has taken the same innovative spirit and ingenuity that produced the Nissan LEAF™, the world’s first mass-produced 100% electric car, and built a cargo vessel christened "The City of St. Petersburg." This 21,000 ton car-carrier can transport up to 2,000 vehicles at a time.

The wave of the future Manned by a crew of 24 and travelling at an average speed of about 20 mph, The City of St. Petersburg will ply the seas of the windy North Atlantic, delivering Nissan vehicles to Northern Europe and Russia from factories in the United Kingdom and Spain.
