Nissan's
commitment to the planet doesn't begin and end with efficient cars. The company
saw an opportunity to extend its environmentally conscious philosophy into the
transport and delivery aspect of the business.
Nissan has taken the same innovative spirit and ingenuity that produced the Nissan LEAF™,
the world’s first mass-produced 100% electric car, and built a cargo vessel
christened "The City of St. Petersburg." This 21,000 ton car-carrier
can transport up to 2,000 vehicles at a time.
The wave of the future Manned by a crew of 24 and travelling at an average speed of about 20 mph, The City of St. Petersburg will ply the seas of the windy North Atlantic, delivering Nissan vehicles to Northern Europe and Russia from factories in the United Kingdom and Spain.
