2013 Nissan Altima

source
The Nissan Altima is currently the second-best-selling car in the United States, behind the first place Toyota Camry. In attempt to surpass Toyota, Nissan has developed a new and improved 2013 Altima model that is aimed to gain the first place position.

The 2013 Altima has vast similarities to the 2012 model, for instance— updates to the base four-cylinder that add seven horsepower and, along with changes to the CVT (continuously variable-ratio automatic transmission), increase fuel mileage.

About 70 percent of the continuously variable-ratio automatic transmission’s parts are new and friction is cut, accounting for 40 percent of the mileage boost, Nissan says. The 2013 Altima gets, 27 mpg in the city, 38 highway and 31 combined, up from 23/32/27.

The 2013 Altima goes on sale later this summer, June 26 to be exact. So don’t for get to visit us here a Greenville Nissan to see what all the Altima hype is about!

How Do You Decorate Your Ride?

It's no recent trend for drivers to use their cars as personal statements to show their support, opinions and at times, their political views. While other drivers elect to use decorative stickers and decals to customize their ride. It only seems fit that just like billboards on the side of the road, drivers can use their cars to advertise their personal opinions as portable billboards. But then I must play devils advocate and ask to what extent do our portable billboards become a dangerous distraction to other drivers on the road?
Feel free to comment below and give us some feed back on how you Decorate Your Ride?

The Taxi of Tomorrow

New York is "hailing" a new era of urban mobility today, as the city with the nation's largest taxi fleet has selected Nissan to design and supply the next-generation "Taxi of Tomorrow." For 2014, New York’s iconic yellow cab is getting a decidedly futuristic update. It’s the Nissan NV200, and with room for four, a low-annoyance horn and sliding safety doors, it’s set to change not only the face of the taxi, but of the Big Apple itself.
The city's Taxi of Tomorrow is the Nissan NV 200-and it's going to be the safest, most comfortable and most convenient cab the city has ever had," said Mayor Bloomberg."We started this process to leverage our taxi industry's purchasing power to get the highest quality taxi, one that that can expand and redefine the legendary image of New York City taxicabs. The new taxis will be custom-designed to meet the specific demands of carrying 600,000 passengers a day in New York City traffic and the vehicle meets the top priorities identified by the public in our on-line survey."
"Nissan is proud to provide the next generation of taxis for the City of New York," said Nissan Americas Chairman Carlos Tavares.

Racing’s Silent Future

You’re looking at the future of automobile racing. It doesn’t have an engine, uses no gas, and instead of roaring around the track, glides almost silently by. It’s the world’s first 100% electric, no tailpipe, track-ready race car – the NISMO RC

The NISMO RC has no trunk, no rear doors or seats, carpets, navi or any other conventional amenities. To lighten it, the 3-piece body is manufactured from carbon-fiber. The silhouette is low and wide, and the massive tail is designed to create significant downforce, keeping the car stable and glued to the track.

So, will it change today’s racing game? Maybe not, but it will change how the game is played. Electric racing classes are already springing up, most recently at the Pike’s Peak hillclimb where Chad Hord raced his Nissan LEAF to victory. In other words, it’s just a matter of time before “the new car” becomes “the new race car."

Nissan Snug Kids Program

At Nissan, keeping our passengers safe is at the core of everything we do. We know that as parents, keeping your children safe is at the core of everything you do, so we developed Snug Kids® to help you find the perfect Child restraint system for your family.

That is why Nissan introduced Snug Kids®, an industry-first program geared specifically toward safety for children in child restraint systems (CRS), commonly referred to as "child safety seats". Not all CRS fit in all vehicles. Nissan safety engineers have spent thousands of hours evaluating hundreds of CRS by installing them in all the rear seats of our current Nissan vehicles. The result is the Snug Kids™ Child Safety Seat Fit Guide which helps parents confidently select a CRS that fits their vehicle while also providing valuable tips on the proper fit of a CRS.

The Value of Nissan Maintenance

Maintaining your Nissans pristine condition will not save you money but it will actually make you money down the road.  When a car is well maintained a driver avoids many expensive repairs and the car will be in better condition which means it’s resell value will increase tremendously.  A car is comparable to a pet, you need to have routine visits to the veterinarian, or service department, a car should be regularly washed and the driver should always check to make sure everything is running properly.

The vocal points of the interior are the steering wheel and dashboard. If the steering wheel, consider investing in a cover to prevent the wheel from becoming worn. If your car is often left out in the Texas heat, it’s important to protect your dashboard from sun damage so I suggest you purchase a dashboard cover. Also, check the lighting on the dashboard knobs and if any are broken, they can easily be replaced at your Chevy dealership.

If your Nissan has dull, weathered headlights, visit an auto supply store and buy a headlight restoration kit which will run you less than $30. Not only will it improve your vision on the road while driving at night, but will also polish off the car’s appearance.

As the summer heats up, it’s  a good time to clean your air conditioner. To clean it, clear any leaves, dust, or other accumulated gunk from the air passageways.  Change or clean the system’s filters and use an air-conditioning deodorizer. Remember to check your car’s brake pads, shocks, springs, dampers, and struts.  Replacing worn ones can make a major difference in the performance of your car.

These suggestions are part of the upkeep cost of maintaining a vehicle, and will keep your current car running longer. We are always happy to be of assistance if you ever have mechanical problems make sure and visit the Orr Nissan of Greenville Service Department.

Windshield Scratch Repair

When your vehicles windshield is scratch it can not only be a distraction on the road but it can be an annoyance to any driver. We discovered a simple at home solution to repair the windshield and all it requires in a few materials and a free afternoon:

  1. Make a paste by mixing 2 tablespoons of jeweler’s rouge, 2 tablespoons of glycerin, and some water in a small bowl.
  2. Apply a small amount of the paste to the scratch on the glass.
  3. Using the firm felt polishing pad on the buffer, gently rub the paste on the window.
  4. Apply pressure little by little being careful not to press too hard.
  5. Pressing hard could crack the glass.
  6. Let the area dry for about 30 seconds and then wipe it clean with a rag.

Check the area to be sure the scratch has been filled to your liking.  If not, repeat the process.  Often, multiple applications will make for better results.  If you notice that there is some distortion on the surface of the glass after finishing, apply a little bit of clear nail polish to repair it.  Let it dry and then clean the windshield with window cleaner.

To prevent future scratched on your windshield, make sure you inspect, clean, and replace wiper blades regularly. If this doesn't fix the problem, the scratches may have become too deep to repair without professional assistance. Since we here at Greenville Nissan are here to serve you, feel free to contact us anytime with questions or schedule

2013 Nissan Sylphy Foreshadows the next Sentra

source
Late last month Nissan unveiled its Chinese-market 2013 Sylphy at the Beijing auto show. Normally, we don’t pay much attention to Chinese-market cars, but this Sylphy is our first look at Nissan’s new compact sedan, meaning it’s pretty much the Sentra we’re scheduled to get this summer. It's that the perfect combination of engineering and desingn. We love it! What are your thoughts?
